Vietnam’s Cloth Import Up Eight Percent In 10 Months

HANOI, Nov 4 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam spent over 12.5 billion U.S. dollars on cloth import, in the first 10 months of this year, posting an increase of eight percent year on year, according to the General Statistics Office, yesterday.

 

Between Jan and Oct, Vietnam imported nearly 1.2 million tonnes of cotton, worth approximately 3.4 billion dollars, down 17.4 percent in volume and up 23.9 percent in value, year on year.

 

Over the period, the country also spent over 2.2 billion dollars importing 897,000 tonnes of yarn, up eight percent and 1.2 percent, respectively, year on year.

 

Last year, Vietnam spent nearly 14.4 billion dollars, importing cloth and earned more than 32.7 billion dollars, from exporting garments and textiles, according to the office.

 

China was Vietnam’s largest supplier of cloth in 2021.
