Vietnam Triumphs Over Malaysia to Secure ASEAN U-17 Championship

Sidoarjo: The national Under-16 (U-16) football squad's aspirations for revenge against Vietnam were thwarted following a 0-3 defeat in the final of the ASEAN U-17 Championship today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the match took place at the Gelora Delta Sidoarjo Stadium in Indonesia, where Malaysia, having previously succumbed to Vietnam in the group stage, struggled to compete against a well-coordinated Vietnamese team. Vietnam took the lead in the 11th minute with a goal by Quy Vuong Dao, who seized an opportunity amidst a scramble in the Malaysian penalty area.

Despite a near equalizer from Malaysia's Nur Azam Muslim Nor Hisham nine minutes later, which narrowly missed the target, Vietnam extended their lead. Van Duong Nguyen scored during first-half injury time, solidifying the advantage for Cristiano Roland's team.

In the second half, Tri Dung Tran outmaneuvered the Malaysian defense with a precise pass to Van Duong, who scored Vietnam's third goal in the 55th minute. This goal effectively dashed Malaysia's hopes of claiming the championship title under the guidance of coach Muhammad Shukor Adan.
