Victory Against NSFC Gives Rhinos A Further Confidence Boost

Seremban: Sabah FC’s success in earning three full points after defeating Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) yesterday has given the team added confidence to continue closing the gap with the top teams in the Super League. Sabah FC head coach Martin Stano, however, said that the Rhinos must work hard to maintain their winning momentum and avoid becoming complacent, as there are still many matches to play.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Stano expressed the importance of collecting points to keep pace with the Super League’s top teams, Selangor and Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT). He emphasized the advantage the victory provided but cautioned against drawing conclusions prematurely, given the number of games remaining in the season. Looking forward, Stano mentioned the upcoming FA Cup semi-final second leg and the continuation of the league, stating that the team’s focus would be on accumulating as many points as possible.

Sabah FC currently holds third place in the league standings with 32 points. They trail second-placed Selangor FC, who have amassed 39 points, and league leaders JDT, who are at the top with 52 points. Meanwhile, NSFC finds itself in 12th place with just 9 points.

Despite the setback, NSFC head coach K. Nanthakumar commended his players for their effort during the match, acknowledging their inability to maintain their winning streak at home. He noted that a lapse in focus, particularly in the first half, contributed to their downfall. Nanthakumar remarked on the missed scoring opportunities, especially towards the end of the game, and highlighted the absence of attacking players as a significant factor in the defeat.
