Tanjung Rambutan: The wife of Sergeant Mohd Roslan Abd Rahim, one of nine Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel killed in an accident on May 13, said their six-year-old daughter cries in her sleep every night following the tragedy. Nur Aini Samiun, 44, shared that her children, Muhd Raqin Najmi, 13, Muhd Rizqi Nazhan, 9, and Nur Aqeela Rawida, had a close relationship with their father.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nur Aini explained that she previously took care of the children while her late husband managed the family’s finances. With his passing, she now shoulders all responsibilities. She made these remarks at her home in Taman Kinding Raya, Tanjung Rambutan, during the Ziarah Kasih outreach programme organized by the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN).
Nur Aini described Mohd Roslan as a well-liked individual, who was always willing to take leave from work to tend to his ailing parents until their passing. Earlier in the day, PTPTN chairman Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim announced that the three children are entitled to receive benefits totaling RM193,000 through the National Education Savings Scheme (Simpan SSPN), contributed under the Simpan SSPN Prime and Simpan SSPN Plus products.
Reflecting on her husband’s foresight, Nur Aini noted that he was always prudent about securing the future, ensuring savings for their children. Despite not having a high income or numerous assets, and with her being unemployed, she expressed hope that the SSPN savings would provide future support.
The tragic accident occurred at 8.50 am when the FRU truck collided with a stone-laden lorry along Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam, resulting in the deaths of nine personnel and injuries to nine others.
