Putrajaya: A total of 838 athletes from 46 contingents of various higher institutes of learning in the country will compete in the Varsity Combat Sports 2025 (VCS 2025) from Nov 13 to 16.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the VCS 2025 promotion committee announced that three combat sports-silat, taekwondo, and karate-will be contested in the inaugural championship. The event will be held simultaneously in three locations: Dewan Al Jazari, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Polytechnic (taekwondo), Dewan Za’ba, Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi (KPT), Putrajaya (karate), and Kompleks Kejiranan Presint 11 Putrajaya (silat). The closing ceremony will take place at Dewan Al Jazari, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Polytechnic.
The championship is being organised by the Higher Education Ministry through the Strategic Planning Division’s Sports Section, in cooperation with the Polytechnic Sports Council and Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Polytechnic. The initiative aims to instill a lifetime sports culture in line with the Institutes of Higher Learning’s Development Policy.
VCS 2025 will also serve as a platform to select athletes with potential to represent the country in the ASEAN University Games and World University Games.
