Value Art As Foundation Of Nation-Building, Says Aaron

Kuala lumpur: National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang has called on Malaysians to continue valuing, preserving, and elevating arts as a foundation for building a united, harmonious, and resilient national identity. In a Facebook post in conjunction with World Art Day today, he emphasized the significant role that the arts play in shaping human civilization and strengthening global harmony.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the celebration of World Art Day, introduced by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), serves as a platform to recognize the contributions of arts practitioners in building a more inclusive and competitive society. Aaron highlighted that April 15 was chosen to mark the birth of the great figure Leonardo da Vinci, symbolizing excellence in creativity, innovation, and cross-disciplinary thinking.

Aaron further explained that the arts act as a universal language capable of uniting people regardless of background. He emphasized Malaysia's art diversity, which is drawn from more than 200 ethnic and sub-ethnic groups. This diversity, including traditional dances, music, handicrafts, and modern visual arts, reflects the richness of the nation's identity.

He remarked that art serves as a bridge that narrows differences, fosters mutual respect, and strengthens the spirit of unity among the people.
