UTS College Launches University-Embedded Cambridge International AS & A Levels Programme

Sydney: University of Technology Sydney (UTS) College has launched Australia's first university-embedded Cambridge International AS and A Levels programme, offering international students early exposure to university learning, academic expectations, and campus life within a higher-education environment.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the programme has attracted students from China, Nepal, Vietnam, and Korea, signaling strong regional demand for pathways that combine internationally recognized secondary qualifications with early university experience. In a statement, UTS said the launch was marked by a celebratory event held in Sydney, attended by students and families, education leaders, and university partners.

'Cambridge International AS and A Levels are among the most respected secondary qualifications globally,' said UTS College chief executive officer, Morwenna Shahani. Shahani emphasized that embedding the programme on a university campus provides students with a rigorous academic foundation and early immersion in university life.

Cambridge International Education Senior Country Manager for Australia and New Zealand, Chris Wiggin, added that the programme equips students with globally respected qualifications for entry to leading universities. 'Cambridge International AS and A Levels are designed to build deep subject knowledge, critical thinking, and academic independence,' Wiggin stated.

In addition to the Cambridge curriculum, the programme integrates university-level subjects aligned to UTS disciplines, advanced English language development, and leadership and personal development opportunities, including the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. According to UTS College dean, Sally Payne, the programme responds to changing expectations among international families seeking pathways that combine academic excellence with authentic preparation for university study.

Graduates will be well-positioned to progress into undergraduate degrees at UTS, supported by UTS College's long-standing expertise in pathway education.
