Use MyPLUS-TTA To Ensure Smoother Journeys During Chinese New Year – PLUS

Kuala lumpur: Highway users are advised to plan their journeys with the MyPLUS-TTA digital travel schedule ahead of the anticipated traffic surge during the Chinese New Year celebrations on Feb 17. PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) managing director Datuk Nik Airina Nik Jaffar said that MyPLUS-TTA, an application launched in 2023, has reached nearly 30 per cent usage among 2.2 million highway users.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MyPLUS-TTA allows users to observe travel patterns, especially during festive seasons. The application is designed to assist motorists in planning and choosing the most suitable trips during peak periods. Nik Airina expressed confidence that increased usage of the application would contribute to improved traffic flow.

PLUS anticipates traffic on several major highways to surge to around 2.2 million vehicles per day starting Feb 12, with peak travel periods from Feb 12 to 14 for journeys out of the Klang Valley and from Feb 20 to 22 for return trips. To manage this surge, PLUS will activate smart lanes at 32 locations expected to see heavier traffic during the festive season.

The implementation of smart lanes will cover 19 locations in the central region, five in the north, and eight in the south to manage congestion. Drivers are urged to be cautious and adhere to traffic instructions for a safer journey.

To enhance accident management efficiency, PLUS has formed an emergency response team in cooperation with the Royal Malaysia Police, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, the Road Transport Department, and an ambulance team, involving 432 personnel. PLUS has identified about 30 hotspot areas and upgraded more than 60 rest and recreation locations since 2023, adding 26 cabin toilet units to increase capacity during peak hours.
