Kuala lumpur: Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM) today launched an Executive Management Programme (EMP) as a strategic initiative to enhance the development of national leadership and professional talent, in line with industry needs and the increasingly dynamic global economic landscape.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, UPTM stated that the programme was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi during the 60th anniversary celebration of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. The EMP is inspired by the Deputy Prime Minister and aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry, ensuring the local workforce remains relevant and competitive.
UPTM is recognized as a leader in developing the national talent ecosystem and serves as a focal point for the industry through high-impact programmes. The EMP consists of two main components: EMP Protege and EMP Professional, tailored to participants' experience levels and needs.
EMP Protege focuses on fresh graduates and bachelor's degree holders, emphasizing practical skills development, including leadership and strategic thinking, through experiential learning. The 12-week programme includes exposure to real business challenges and collaborative projects reflecting current industry scenarios.
On the other hand, EMP Professional is designed for professionals seeking to enhance leadership and management capabilities. Delivered over four days in a hybrid format, it involves online sessions, workshops, group projects, and mentorship by industry experts. The programme covers strategic leadership, governance, finance, digital innovation, and other key areas.
UPTM has established strategic collaborations with various industry partners to ensure effective implementation, including MBSB, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), Dell Technologies, Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (MAIWP), and OpenLearning. Additionally, the university is enhancing its academic offerings with internationally recognized professional certifications to improve graduate employability.
The initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: Partnership for the Goals, supporting MARA's mission to position UPTM as an academic and talent development hub meeting the needs of the nation's industries.
