PETALING JAYA: The findings into the bullying and abuse case involving a cadet officer at Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) will be finalised this Friday, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. He stated that the investigation, conducted by a board consisting of the police and the Military Training Academy (ALK), will also propose recommendations for disciplinary measures.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the investigation paper has been submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers. The board is expected to conclude the matter by Friday and will present recommendations aligned with disciplinary guidelines. Mohamed Khaled shared these details during a press conference after the send-off ceremony for the Malbatt 850-12 peacekeeping team to Lebanon at the Subang Air Base.
He further explained that the academic activities of the students involved in the incident are proceeding normally. Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa recently reported that the investigation paper h
ad been forwarded to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for further action, and as of last Sunday, statements from 16 individuals had been recorded.
The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) previously announced an investigation into the allegations that a cadet officer from the Military Training Academy (ALK)-UPNM was bullied by a senior who allegedly used an iron to burn the victim’s chest, a claim that gained attention through a viral social media post. The incident reportedly came to light during a routine inspection by an on-duty trainer who noticed the injury marks on the victim.
In another development, Mohamed Khaled mentioned that his ministry had issued a cancellation notice for the procurement of Black Hawk helicopters to the company awarded the contract to lease four helicopters. This decision followed the company’s inability to meet the extended delivery deadline of October 30.
“The delivery deadline in October has passed, so we issued the cancellation notice,” Mohamed Khaled confirmed. The Ministry of Def
ence had signed a five-year lease contract worth RM187 million with Aerotree Defence and Services last May. The first helicopter was originally scheduled for delivery in November of the previous year, but the deadline was later extended to April and then to October following feedback from the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
