Kuala lumpur: Taxpayers are urged to be more proactive in updating their tax information regularly, instead of waiting for the e-Filing season. Inland Revenue Board's (LHDN) senior revenue executive I (Collection Department) Azaharuddin Mohd Ali, highlighted that awareness of tax responsibilities often rises only during the filing period.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Azaharuddin noted that many individuals only log into the MyTax or the hasil.gov.my portal when submitting their returns, but emphasized the importance of regular checks to ensure details such as income, reliefs, and tax status remain accurate and up to date. He stated that tax compliance extends beyond making payments and includes honest income reporting, maintaining proper financial records, and understanding eligible reliefs.

He warned that failing to meet tax obligations could lead to enforcement action and encouraged the public to utilize digital platforms like MyTax for easier management of their tax affairs. "The platform not only simplifies e-Filing but also allows users to review information, update profiles, and receive notifications quickly," he said.

Azaharuddin further elaborated that tax revenue is crucial for funding national development projects, including infrastructure, education, and healthcare, for the benefit of the population.
