Unscheduled 12-hour Water Cut in Kuantan Due to Pump House Repairs

Kuantan: Several areas in Kuantan will experience an unexpected 12-hour water supply interruption starting at 11pm tonight due to repair and maintenance work at the Kobat Pump House.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Pengurusan Air Pahang Berhad (PAIP) CEO Datuk Saiful Zaini Mohd Bokhari stated that the maintenance work, which is expected to conclude by 11am tomorrow, is a preventive measure aimed at avoiding major operational issues in the future.

The affected areas include Beserah to the Chendor border, encompassing the Malaysia-China Industrial Park, Maritim, and multiple residential and industrial zones such as Bandar Damansara and Taman Dato’ Rashid. Additionally, Batu Hitam, Kampung Darat Sekolah, Jeram, and Sungai Karang Maju will be impacted, along with Aspa Cottage, Jabor, Sungai Karang, and Chengal Lempong.

Further areas facing disruption are Balok, Seberang Balok, Sungai Ular, Cherating, Kubang Ikan, and the port area. The water cut will also affect Gebeng Phases I to III, Jalan Jabor, Kampung Alor Batu Jabor, Jalan Semambu, and Semambu’s residential and industrial areas. Other impacted locations include Jalan Tengku Muhammad, Teluk Sisek, and the Survey Department.

Additional areas such as Jalan Beserah, Alor Akar, Sri Kuantan, Kubang Buaya, and Teluk Chempedak will also be affected. The disruption will extend to Istana Mahkota Teluk Sisek, Tanjung Api, Taman Gelora, Padang Lalang, and Taman Selamat, along with Tembeling Resort and the Royal Pahang Golf Club.

Parts of Bukit Sekilau, Jalan Bukit Ubi, Jalan Kenanga, Taman Bukit Ubi, and Taman Sungai Charu are included in the affected zones. Jalan Lim Hoe Lek, Jalan Haji Ahmad, Galing, Setali, and Air Putih will also face water supply interruptions. Taman Fairmount, Bukit Beirut, Bukit Setongkol, and Cenderawasih are among the other locations impacted.

Additional affected areas include the Bukit Goh Youth Land Scheme, Bukit Goh Gen 2, Bukit Goh Perdana, and Bukit Kuantan. Parts of Tanjung Pasir, Indera Mahkota, Kampung Tiram, Tiram Perdana, Taman Shahzan, and Taman Radiance will experience similar disruptions. The Tun Razak Complex, Kuantan District and Land Office, Fully Residential Integrated School, PAIP headquarters, Sentral Terminal, Indera Mahkota Fire and Rescue Station, and Widad will also be affected.

Saiful mentioned that water supply will be restored in stages following the completion of maintenance work and stabilization of the distribution system. Recovery times will vary based on the distance of premises and system pressure. Water tankers will be deployed to provide emergency supply, with priority access for critical premises such as hospitals, clinics, and dialysis centers. PAIP has advised consumers to store sufficient water and use it prudently throughout the duration of the disruption.
