Unity and Tolerance Among Races in Penang Seen as a Model for Other States: Chow

Penang: The unity and tolerance displayed among the various races, the people, and the government in Penang are expected to serve as an inspiration for other states across the nation, according to Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent visit to the Penang State Level MADANI Aidilfitri Celebration Ceremony, he commended the state for its demonstration of harmony and unity among different races. Chow emphasized the importance of maintaining this harmonious relationship, noting the benefits of a peaceful coexistence in a multi-racial and multi-religious society. He highlighted that open house events are a testament to the reality of harmonious relations not only in Penang but throughout Malaysia.

Chow expressed his appreciation for the active role of the Penang Malay Association (Pemenang) in carrying out social responsibility initiatives and advocating for the Malay community’s interests, especially in Penang. He acknowledged the association’s contribution to fostering a spirit of inclusiveness and harmony.

The Chief Minister pledged continued support from the state government for efforts that are constructive and unifying. He expressed confidence that with commitment and strong cooperation between the government and non-governmental organizations like Pemenang, the goals of balanced and sustainable development for all can be achieved.

Also in attendance at the event were the Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak and Pemenang President Tan Sri Mohd Yussof Latiff.
