UNITEN’s Confirm Ai Programme Enhances Student Skills with AI-Based Learning

KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) has introduced the Confirm Ai programme as a platform to develop student skills through artificial intelligence (AI)-based learning technology, showcasing significant improvements in both academic and digital proficiencies.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, UNITEN’s vice-chancellor, Prof Dr Khairul Salleh Mohamed Sahari, emphasized the programme’s role in bolstering students’ academic excellence and critical thinking capabilities. “Since the launch of Confirm Ai, we have observed a significant improvement in student performance, not only academically but also in developing digital skills, which are crucial for the future,” he stated at the Confirm Ai Excellence Awards 2024 presentation. The programme, supported by Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) with RM1.5 million in funding since 2016, has attracted tens of thousands of students and schools nationwide.

Confirm Ai is a part of UNITEN’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative under the Yayasan Canselor UNITEN, aiming to enhance student academic performance through AI technology. The programme is conducted in collaboration with the Innovation and Research Management Centre (iRMC), focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives. It also works with the Marketing and Student Admission Department (MSA) to implement various academic and personal development activities in schools.

Special awards were presented to schools and individuals demonstrating leadership in integrating AI into their educational practices. The Maths Wizard Challenge 2024, part of the programme, saw participation from 177 students, representing five percent of participants who passed the qualifying test.
