KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 1,119 graduates from Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK) were conferred their degrees at the university’s 23rd convocation ceremony at Merdeka Hall, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTC KL) yesterday. The ceremony underscored the university’s global reach and its commitment to equipping students for international success.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the convocation showcased the academic accomplishments of graduates from numerous countries including Brunei, Indonesia, China, Bahrain, India, Somalia, Tanzania, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Senegal, Nigeria, Yemen, and Zimbabwe. This diversity highlights UNIRAZAK’s expanding international presence and its dedication to preparing students for a globalized world.
The university pointed out the celebration of 85 graduates from China, emphasizing the longstanding partnership between Malaysia and China, established in 1974 through the diplomatic efforts of Tun Abdul Razak. This historical relationship continues to enhance bilat
eral ties and promote international collaboration, reflecting the convocation’s theme, ‘Going Global.’
UNIRAZAK expressed that the theme embodies its ambition to evolve into a world-class institution committed to providing an inclusive and high-quality educational experience, supported by technological advancements and strategic partnerships, to prepare its graduates for global influence.
Pro-Chancellor Datuk Mohamed Nizam Tun Abdul Razak highlighted the theme “Going Global” as an inspiration for graduates to think ambitiously, explore opportunities internationally, and contribute positively to society and the world at large. He stressed that true success is measured by meaningful contributions and the lasting impact one leaves on communities.
Vice Chancellor Prof Datin Paduka Dr Samsinar Md Sidin remarked on the university’s significant growth over the years. She noted that seven years ago, UNIRAZAK had just over 700 primarily local students, whereas today, it boasts nearly 5,000 students from 27 differen
t countries. This transformation is a testament to the university’s ambition, dedication, and resilience.
Dr. Samsinar also acknowledged key partners in their global mission, including the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), IEG Campus, the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), and their collaborators at Guangzhou Construction City College (GZCCC).
During the convocation, UNIRAZAK honored Mohd Shazwan Abdullah with the prestigious Chancellor’s Award, recognizing his leadership as President of the Student Representative Council (2023-2024) and his commitment to community and cultural initiatives as an ambassador for the Onn Jaafar Institute.
