UniMAP Steps Up Industry Collaboration In Talent Devt, Research And Innovation

Universiti malaysia perlis: Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) continues to strengthen its strategic industry ties through a more comprehensive collaborative approach, particularly in talent development, research, innovation and solutions to industry needs.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, UniMAP vice-chancellor Datuk Prof Dr Zalim?n Sauli emphasized that university-industry relations should go beyond recruiting graduates and instead be developed as strategic partnerships capable of creating shared value for students, industry and the country. 'Our goal is not merely to increase the number of industry partners, but to build stronger partnerships in talent development, research, innovation and solutions to actual industry challenges. The students we nurture together today have the potential to become engineers, technology experts and future leaders; therefore, university-industry ties must be established early and continuously strengthened,' he stated in a statement today.

He delivered his speech at the UniMAP Industry Eminence Awards 2026 held last night, an event graced by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who serves as UniMAP Chancellor, and the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, who holds the position of UniMAP Pro-Chancellor.

Dr. Zaliman highlighted that industry confidence in the quality of UniMAP talents is evident from the university's graduate employability rate of 99.4 percent last year. Additionally, UniMAP has been recognized as one of the preferred sources of graduates for multinational companies for two consecutive years. The university produces more than 3,000 graduates annually, particularly in strategic fields such as electrical and electronic engineering, semiconductors, engineering and technology, thereby providing a continuous talent pipeline to meet industry needs.

To further prepare graduates for changes in the employment landscape, UniMAP encourages earlier industry involvement in the talent development process. This is achieved through Industry Advisory Panels, final-year projects, mentoring programmes, professional certifications, specialised training, as well as exposure to technology and actual working environments.

Meanwhile, the UniMAP Industry Eminence Awards 2026 recognized 31 strategic industry partners for their significant contributions towards strengthening the university's teaching and learning, student development, research, and innovation.
