UniMAP Beyond 2030 Initiative Calls for Inclusive Discussion, Says Perlis Raja Muda

Perlis: The Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Beyond 2030 initiative calls for an inclusive discussion involving both current and former top management to reinforce the university’s position as a leading institution and address the challenges expected over the next 10 to 20 years.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is also the Chancellor of UniMAP, expressed his intention to participate in discussions to assess past and present achievements and outline the university’s future direction. He emphasized the importance of comprehensive discussions involving past and present management to ensure the university’s continued progress.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra stated, “I believe UniMAP must continue to thrive and have a clear direction through the UniMAP Beyond 2030 initiative. This initiative requires a comprehensive discussion involving both past and present top management to ensure the university’s continued progress.” As someone who has been with UniMAP since its KUKUM (Kolej Universiti Kejuruteraan Utara Malaysia) era, he noted that the experience of former management serves as a valuable reference, while the new leadership will introduce fresh ideas to align with global changes.

The remarks were made during the officiation of the Iftar @ UniMAP programme at the university. The event was attended by the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, the Pro-Chancellor of UniMAP, along with State Secretary Datuk Rahimi Ismail, UniMAP Vice-Chancellor Datuk Dr Zaliman Sauli, and Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) Chief Executive Officer Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor.

During the ceremony, a total of 361 UniMAP students received a zakat donation of RM300 each from MAIPs. Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra highlighted the importance of focusing on key aspects such as UniMAP’s positions in The Higher Education (T.H.E) World University Rankings and The QS World University Rankings, along with key performance indicators that serve as benchmarks for university excellence.

He concluded by expressing optimism that the inclusive discussion will help ensure the effective implementation of academic strategies, research, internationalisation, and industry collaboration.
