Kangar: Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), in collaboration with the Perlis Journalists Association (PWP), initiated the ‘Singgah Sahur’ programme to show appreciation for frontline workers who perform night duties to ensure the community’s safety and well-being.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, UniMAP vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Zaliman Sauli emphasized that the programme was not only about providing ‘sahur’ (pre-dawn) meals but also served as a gesture of appreciation for the commitment shown by frontline personnel in their roles. He remarked that every frontline worker is vital in safeguarding the community, especially those on night duty, and the initiative stands as a token of gratitude for their dedication.
The event enabled seven media personnel, including those from Bernama, to connect with frontline teams. A total of 350 food packages and drinks were distributed as part of the initiative, which involved various security and rescue agencies across the state.
The programme included visits to several key locations such as the Arau Fire and Rescue Station, Padang Besar Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex (ICQS), the Emergency and Trauma Department at Tuanku Fauziah Hospital (HTF), the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Kangar, and the Perlis contingent police headquarters (IPK).
