Manggatal:An investment of RM1 million has been allocated for the development of five infrastructure projects in Kampung Rampayan, Manggatal, as part of Universiti Malaysia Sabah's (UMS) MADANI Adopted Village initiative.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the funding was provided by the Prime Minister's Department through the Higher Education Ministry. It has been utilized to address the needs of the local community on a nearly 0.4-hectare site.
UMS Vice-Chancellor Datuk Dr Kasim Mansor stated that the completed infrastructure, including a village arch, an open hall, a community centre, solar lighting, and a fisherman's hut, will facilitate ongoing cooperation in education and entrepreneurship.
Dr Kasim emphasized that the university followed all necessary procedures and governance guidelines to ensure the successful completion of these projects. He expressed that this initiative is crucial to prevent the future generation from falling behind in education and entrepreneurship.
He also hoped that the project would significantly enhance the local socio-economy and establish UMS as a leader in the nationwide MADANI Adopted Village programme, which is coordinated by the Finance Ministry and the Prime Minister's Department's Implementation Coordination Unit.
