Kuala Lumpur: UMNO leadership at the branch and division levels must play a vital role in gaining the support of voters aged under 40 so that the party remains the choice in the upcoming elections, said UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah. He noted that this group of voters is highly critical, more open, and dynamic and seeks a party that is genuinely seen as capable of offering the best for their future.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Shamsul Anuar emphasized the importance of UMNO division and branch leadership considering strategies to ensure UMNO remains the best party while projecting a positive image to gain support from young people. He made these remarks after officiating the 2025 Permatang Pauh Women, Youth, and Puteri delegates’ meetings.
The Deputy Home Minister stated that gaining support from the Malay community and the younger generation could enable UMNO to rise again as the dominant political party in the country. He mentioned that winning many seats is essential, and decisions regarding seat distribution and constituencies should be left to party leadership.
Shamsul Anuar further stressed that UMNO must remain proactive in addressing the people’s concerns to stay relevant and be perceived as a party that matters. He highlighted that UMNO’s current focus is on preparing the party in all aspects for the upcoming state elections in Sabah, Melaka, and Johor, as well as the next General Election.
