UMNO Gains Momentum in Ayer Kuning By-Election, Winning Support from Malay and Young Voters

Kuala Lumpur: The recent Ayer Kuning state by-election has showcased a significant increase in support for UMNO, particularly among Malays, young voters, and various ethnic communities, noted Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, the party’s secretary-general. He emphasized that the victory signals a public move away from racial politics and divisive narratives.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Asyraf highlighted the collective efforts of Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties, Friends of BN, and Pakatan Harapan (PH) partners in securing the win for the BN candidate. He expressed gratitude towards the voters of Ayer Kuning for their trust and confidence, which resulted in a strong win across nearly all polling districts.

In the competitive race, BN’s Dr Mohamad Yusri Bakir successfully retained his seat, securing 11,065 votes. His opponents, Abd Muhaimin Malek from PN and Bawani KS from PSM, garnered 6,059 and 1,106 votes, respectively.

Furthermore, Asyraf Wajdi announced that UMNO will be organizing its inaugural Patriotic School Convocation in celebration of the party’s 79th anniversary. The event is scheduled to take place at Dewan Tun Hussein Onn, WTCKL on May 11.
