UKAS Collaborates With Bernama To Improve Journalism Skills, Information Management.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) is committed to enhancing its operational efficiency and service quality in journalism and information management through a strategic partnership with the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama). Its director Samuel Simon said this collaboration is aimed at strengthening news writing skills and producing visually compelling content for public consumption.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the collaboration holds significant potential for further development, particularly in covering major events such as the recent Malaysia Games (SUKMA) and the Para SUKMA. Samuel Simon highlighted the importance of learning from Bernama’s archiving and information management system, which plays a crucial role in storing, organising, and processing news and multimedia content for long-term reference.

During the visit, the delegation, led by UKAS assistant director Muller Asen, was warmly welcomed by Bernama’s deputy editor-in-chief Nasriah Darus, executive editor Mo
hd Haikal Mohd Isa, and head of TV and Radio Broadcasting, Mohd Shukri Ishak. The delegation was also given an in-depth briefing on Bernama’s news management processes and a tour of the editorial department and Bernama TV’s newsroom.

Meanwhile, Nasriah, in welcoming the collaboration, emphasised Bernama’s commitment to further strengthening its strategic relationship with UKAS. ‘We have an existing strategic partnership, and we will continue to develop this through training at the Bernama Centre of Excellence, along with other areas we identify as beneficial,’ she said. ‘This partnership is particularly valuable as both UKAS and Bernama are government agencies, with numerous shared experiences and common objectives that we can leverage for mutual growth,’ she added.
