UK-Malaysia CPTPP Deal Set To Unlock Opportunities For SMEs In UK Market

Kuala lumpur: The first Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) between the United Kingdom (UK) and Malaysia is expected to unlock vast opportunities for Malaysian exporters, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to penetrate the UK market.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz highlighted that this matter was among those discussed during his meeting with UK Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs David Lammy. ‘Together, we could drive economic growth, which is resilient and innovative,’ Zafrul expressed in a post on X today.

Furthermore, it was noted that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently received a courtesy call from Lammy to strengthen bilateral relations. These relations have been upgraded to a strategic partnership following a meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in January.

Anwar, via the X platform, mentioned that Malaysia is eager to engage in close cooperation with the UK in numerous fields including investment, energy transition, education, climate change, defence, digitalisation, and artificial intelligence.
