Sungai petani: A fire broke out in a home in Kampung Bukit, Sungai Pasir, near here today, leaving two women injured. Tikam Batu Fire and Rescue Station Operations Commander Assistant Superintendent Fauzi Shuib said the department received a call about the incident at 11.51 am.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, eleven firefighters from the Tikam Batu and Sungai Petani Fire and Rescue Stations were dispatched to the scene, assisted by the Bakar Arang and Sungai Petani Volunteer Fire Brigades. Fauzi stated that the blaze, which damaged about 90 per cent of the house, left a woman in her 40s with first-degree burns on both legs and another in her 50s with breathing difficulties.

The victims were given initial treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital. The fire was brought under control at 1.10 pm and the operation ended at 3.07 pm.
