Kuala lumpur: Two women were found dead of suspected electrocution at a fish rearing pond area in Pantai Air Tawar here this afternoon, police said.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Besut district Supt Mohd Rozaime Ab Rahim stated that a report was received at 1.40 pm indicating that the victims, aged 49 and 27, were found unconscious at the pond. "The medical officer at the location pronounced both victims dead," he said in a statement today, noting that the bodies were sent to Besut Hospital's forensics unit for autopsy. The real cause of the incident is still under investigation, and the case is being classified as sudden death.

Meanwhile, Wan Muhammad Naim Wan Hussin, 28, the husband of one of the victims, Rubayyi Razali, 27, expressed his shock at the tragedy. Rubayyi was found alongside the pond owner, Wan Adilah Wan Awang, 49, unconscious at the pond when he went to pick his wife up at 1 pm. Rubayyi, a second-year biodiversity degree student at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Jengka, Pahang, had been doing practical training at the pond since August 10 and was expected to finish on October 2.

Wan Muhammad Naim Wan Hussin recounted, "When I saw them both unconscious, I immediately sought the help of breeders nearby." He suspected electrocution as the cause, mentioning the presence of an electrical wire near the area and flowing pipe water. He added that they have two sons, aged two years and four months.
