Two Tracker Dogs Deployed in Search for Teenager Feared Drowned in Jerantut

JERANTUT: Two tracker dogs from the K9 Unit have been deployed in a search and rescue operation for a teenage boy feared drowned while fishing at a floating house on Jalan Kampung Pedah, Kampung Jerantut Feri, Jerantut. The incident occurred yesterday, and authorities are intensifying efforts to locate the 14-year-old.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, a spokesperson for the Pahang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) confirmed the deployment of the dogs to assist in locating Azri Fahmi. The search and rescue operation, now in its second day, involves 37 officers and personnel from various security agencies, including JBPM, the Bukit Angin Water Rescue Team (PPDA), the police, and the Civil Defence Force.

The operation, which began at 6:45 a.m. today, has expanded to cover a 10-kilometer radius from the last known location where the victim was seen falling. Authorities have focused their efforts along the riverbanks, employing the K9 Unit to search the area while the PPDA team conducts dives at the site of the incident and patrols the surrounding area by boat. Villagers have also joined in the search efforts.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was fishing with two friends at the floating house when he fell into Sungai Pahang and was carried away by the current. The search continues as authorities work tirelessly to locate the missing teenager.
