Two Teenagers Face Charges Over Death of Student at Kuala Pilah Hostel

Kuala Pilah:Two 16-year-old boys were charged at the Magistrate's Court with the death of a Form Two male student at a secondary school hostel last month.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, no plea was recorded from the accused after the charge was read out before Judge Roslinda Razali, who served as a Magistrate. The case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

The boys are jointly charged with causing the death of the 14-year-old student between 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm on September 25 at a school hostel. They face charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 304, which allows for the death penalty or imprisonment for between 30 and 40 years. If not sentenced to death, they could also face a minimum of 12 strokes of whipping.

The court has set December 7 for the next mention of the case. Deputy Public Prosecutor Engku Ahmad Rashdi Engku Abdillah represented the prosecution, while lawyer Datuk Hanif Hassan appeared for the defense.
