Kampung Tepus: Two 16-year-old secondary school students are feared drowned while trying to retrieve a ball from the river in Kampung Tepus near Parit today. Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad reported that the victims attended Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sultan Muhammad Shah, Parit.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, police received a call at 4.21pm, prompting a team from the Parit Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) to proceed to the scene of the incident, which is located 11 kilometers away. The search and rescue operation, involving village residents who used fishing boats, was supported by firefighters utilizing aluminum boats.
The operation also saw collaboration from the BBP Kuala Kangsar Water Rescue Team (PPDA) and members from BBP Pulau Pangkor, who have been instructed to aid in the efforts. Sabarodzi noted that despite cloudy weather and the river’s strong flow, the search and rescue operation is ongoing.
