Two Orang Asli Brothers Feared Drowned in Kuala Krai

Kuala Krai: Two Orang Asli brothers are feared drowned after they went missing in Sungai Kampung Kilat, Kuala Krai, last night. The victims, aged 17 and 16, were reported missing, prompting an urgent search effort by local authorities.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sungai Durian Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Muhaimi Hashim provided further details on the incident. The rescue team received a call about the missing brothers at 10.21 pm and quickly mobilized a response team. Seven personnel were dispatched, covering a distance of approximately 81.6 km to reach the remote location.

Upon arriving at the scene at 11 pm, the rescue team encountered challenges due to the remote setting, which prevented the fire engine from reaching the exact location. The team proceeded on foot and managed to reach the area at 12.10 am. However, the operation was temporarily halted because of darkness and rain. A disaster operations control centre has been established at the scene to coordinate further rescue efforts.

The search operation is expected to resume with the hope of locating the brothers as soon as possible. The community remains anxious, awaiting news of any developments in the ongoing search.
