Gua musang: Two Comprehensive Special Model 9 (K9) schools in Gua Musang have been upgraded to Comprehensive Special Model 11 (K11), allowing Orang Asli students to continue their education through Form Five instead of Form Three without leaving the district. The schools are Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bihai and SK Sri Permai.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek stated that the move would expand access to secondary education and help prevent Orang Asli students from dropping out. "As of today, we have two Orang Asli schools in Gua Musang that have been upgraded from K9 to K11. K9 provides education up to Form Three, while K11 extends it to Form Five. This means these children will have access to education through secondary school here in Gua Musang," she explained during a press conference after attending the 2026 Parliamentary Follow-Up Programme Series 3 at Sekolah Kebangsaan Gua Musang.

Fadhlina further noted that improving educational outcomes for Orang Asli children also required stronger support from parents, teachers, and other stakeholders. The ministry would continue to prioritize efforts to keep Orang Asli children in school and ensure they had access to education. "The Parliamentary Follow-Up Programme, which covered areas from Kuala Lipis, Pahang, to Gua Musang, also focused on strengthening teacher preparation, including pedagogical training, community building, and forest pedagogy," she mentioned.

Additionally, the minister highlighted that schools were receiving support, including smartboards, tablets, school assistance, and resources for teachers' activities. Fadhlina expressed hope that these efforts would aid schools in continuing to improve their performance.
