Two brothers are feared drowned while swimming with two friends in Sungai Beril, Paka, here today. Paka Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief Mohd Rizuan Ramli identified the missing siblings as Muhammad Amir Ashraf Mohd Zulnaidi, 15, and Muhammad Aidil Amsar Mohd Zulnaidi, 14. Both boys hail from Kampung Kolam and are believed to have been swept away by strong currents in the river at approximately 11 am.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Paka Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 11.19 am. Firemen in an engine from the station arrived on the scene just six minutes later. Mohd Rizuan stated that the four students had ventured to the river for a swim at about 10.30 am.

He reported that two of the students managed to save themselves, while the other two are believed to have gone missing in the river. Search operations are currently underway to locate the brothers. The search and rescue operation involves 15 personnel from the P aka station, with additional support from the Kerteh and Chukai stations.
