Kajang: Two boys are feared drowned after falling and being swept away by the strong current while trying to retrieve a ball in a large drain at Lorong 1/3A, Taman Prima Saujana, Kajang, near here, this evening.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar reported that his department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 6.32 pm involving the children aged 12 and 14.

He stated that following this, a machine from the Kajang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) with six personnel was deployed to the location and arrived there at 6.39 pm. “Search and rescue work is being carried out in the main drain area by the teams involved,” he noted in a statement.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Mukhlis confirmed that the two boys were siblings. ‘Search and rescue operations are still underway,’ he added.
