Alor gajah: Two Bangladeshi nationals were found killed inside a house in Durian Tunggal, Alor Gajah, yesterday afternoon.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Melaka police chief, Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar, stated that initial investigations revealed the victims, aged 31 and 42, both construction workers, were housemates. “Upon inspecting the house around 7 pm, officers discovered the first victim in the kitchen, lying with multiple stab wounds and covered in blood. The second victim, aged 31, was found in a separate room, hanged from a ceiling fan,” Dzulkhairi said during a press conference at the Jasin district police headquarters.
He further explained that two knives and a machete were also recovered at the scene. Initial investigations suggest the incident stemmed from jealousy between the two men over the wife of the 31-year-old, an Indonesian woman. It was understood that the woman, who had previously lived with them, left the house with their three-month-old baby about two weeks prior to the incident.
Dzulkhairi also mentioned that the two victims had another Bangladeshi housemate, a man in his thirties, who was at work during the time of the incident. “Initial investigations also found that neighbours reported hearing loud noises from the house. The housemate discovered the house was locked when he returned, and sought help from neighbours and the police,” he added.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, with the motive believed to be jealousy. Dzulkhairi urged anyone with information to contact their nearest police station or senior investigating officer, ASP Norehan Omar, at the Alor Gajah district police headquarters on 06-5562222.
