Two Artists Selected For Khazanah Associate Artist Residency 2026 In London

Khazanah nasional bhd: Khazanah Nasional Bhd has announced the selection of two emerging Malaysian artists as the 2026 recipients of the Khazanah Associate Artist Residency (KAAR) programme at Acme Studios, London, for 12 weeks, beginning in September.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the recipients are Kuala Lumpur-based conceptual artist, archivist and curator Umar Sharif, and visual and multimedia artist Fauzan Fuad. They were selected from 51 applicants and received their Letter of Award at Seri Negara yesterday.

Khazanah managing director Datuk Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir stated that developing Malaysian talent is an important part of Khazanah's role as a purpose-driven and long-term investor. 'Through KAAR, we are investing in the people behind Malaysia's creative future by giving these artists exposure, networks, and opportunities to deepen their practice,' he said in a statement.

During the residency, the artists will participate in mentorship sessions, workshops, and peer collaborations while engaging with one of the world's leading contemporary art communities. Their residency also coincides with Frieze Week, an annual art exhibition held in London, providing them with valuable exposure to one of the world's leading contemporary art events.

Since its introduction in 2017 and now in its seventh edition, KAAR has supported 14 Malaysian artists across diverse disciplines by providing international exposure, professional development opportunities, and connections to the wider arts community.
