Kuala Lumpur: A total of National Anti-Drug Agency (NADA) clients undergoing treatment and rehabilitation have managed to pass their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2024 examinations. Its director-general, Datuk Ruslin Jusoh, stated that 14 of them were located at the Seri Iskandar narcotics addiction rehabilitation centre (PUSPEN) in Perak while 11 were at Papar PUSPEN in Sabah.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, all clients are currently following the Treatment and Rehabilitation Within Community programme, which offers special modules such as the Client Education Access programme (PAPK), specially designed for clients under 18 years as a second chance at education. Under this programme, all qualified clients follow a systematic class schedule and are taught by experienced teachers with support from the district education office. The clients sat for six subjects, including Bahasa Melayu, English, Science, Mathematics, History, and either Islamic Studies or Moral Studies.
Datuk Ruslin Jusoh emphasized that the PAPK aims to help clients gain formal education that could ensure a better future. He noted that it serves as a springboard to challenge the perception that being left behind at school leaves no chance for improvement. The educational programme is designed to nurture human capital with knowledge in line with the national education’s goals, especially after the programme was enhanced with the introduction of ‘PUSPEN Karangan sebagai Sekolah Integriti’.
With this facility, the agency can address education issues for clients and ensure they can continue their education collectively, Datuk Ruslin added.
