TVET Needs To Create High-Quality Jobs, Offer Better Income – Chief Secretary

Kuala lumpur: The main challenge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Malaysia today is no longer just about creating job opportunities, but ensuring that the jobs created are of high quality, productive, and offer better income to workers. Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar highlighted the critical role of TVET in reducing the mismatch between skills and industry needs, addressing employability issues among graduates, and driving the transformation of the nation's industry towards a high-technology and digital economy.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tan Sri Shamsul Azri emphasised the importance of TVET during the High-Level Committee (HLC) meeting of the National TVET Council (MTVET) No. 2/2026. He stressed the need to strengthen the human capital development agenda to meet future needs. He also stated that TVET should be viewed not merely as a primary career option, but as a catalyst for accelerating the country's economic growth.
