Kuala lumpur: Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates must embody noble values, social responsibility, and patriotism to contribute to society and the nation, apart from pursuing personal success, the Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail said today. His Royal Highness emphasized the essential role that TVET graduates play in the country’s development agenda, highlighting the need for them to be knowledgeable, disciplined, and of high integrity.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Raja of Perlis underscored the importance of lifelong learning, acknowledging the constant growth of knowledge and the ever-changing nature of technology. He stated that only those willing to learn and adapt will remain relevant in the modern world. His remarks were delivered during the Politeknik Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (PTSS) and Arau Community College Convocation Ceremony held at Dewan Harumanis PTSS.
The ceremony was also attended by the Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil. Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin highlighted the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, noting that traditional skills are insufficient as industries increasingly seek expertise in areas such as automation, digitalisation, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and entrepreneurial innovation.
He affirmed that skilled workers from institutions such as PTSS and Arau Community College are vital for building modern infrastructure, strengthening the digital industry, advancing the engineering sector, and driving sustainable green economic growth. The three-day convocation, which runs until Thursday, celebrates 1,116 graduates from certificate, diploma, and foundation programmes.
Among the graduates, Food Service Halal Practice diploma holder Nur Shafinaz Mohd Noor, 25, was awarded the Special Excellence Award for her remarkable international achievement. She secured a position with the Japan Da’wah Centre in Osaka following her industrial training there.
