Ashgabat: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has described his official working visit to Turkmenistan as having achieved its objectives, particularly in strengthening friendly relations and strategic cooperation between the two countries. He said the visit also opened a new chapter in efforts to expand bilateral cooperation in various areas of mutual interest, especially in the energy sector, which has great potential to be explored and leveraged for the prosperity of both countries.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar expressed his appreciation to the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and all parties who extended a very warm welcome to the Malaysian delegation. He also commended the efforts of the ministry team, the Malaysian Embassy in Ashgabat, PETRONAS, security personnel, and members of the media for their crucial roles in ensuring the smooth running of all arrangements.
During the visit, Anwar was accompanied by Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, Minister of Economy Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, as well as officials from the Prime Minister's Office and the Foreign Ministry. The two-day visit, starting from June 18, marked Anwar's first official trip to Turkmenistan since becoming Malaysia's 10th prime minister in November 2022 and was at the invitation of the Turkmenistan President.
