Subang Jaya: The public is urged to place their trust in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in carrying out investigations into the gas pipeline fire incident at Putra Heights, Subang Jaya on April 1, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the police have been involved from the beginning of the tragedy and are still conducting investigations. Saifuddin emphasized that he is consistently updated with the latest briefings from the police and urged the public to allow the police to complete their investigation thoroughly.
He highlighted the necessity of diligence and investigative discipline in the process of gathering evidence, calling on the public to trust the police in completing their task. Saifuddin shared these remarks with reporters after attending the ‘Minister of Home Affairs with PDRM’ programme and Hari Raya event at the Kubang Pasu district police headquarters.
Further, Saifuddin advised the public to refrain from making assumptions and speculations about the incident, particularly on social media platforms. He noted that while individuals are free to express their views under the freedom of speech, the police should be allowed to conduct their investigation without interference.
Additionally, Saifuddin mentioned that the National Registration Department (JPN) and the Immigration Department have proactively worked to replace documents such as identity cards, birth certificates, and marriage certificates destroyed in the incident. He assured that victims will not be charged for these replacements and that efforts are being made to ensure no one is overlooked, as these documents are crucial for subsequent aid verification.
Saifuddin also stressed the importance of showing sympathy and empathy when certain segments of society are affected by disasters, urging everyone to contribute to resolving the victims’ problems.
