Tourism Selangor’s Extensive Showcase at MATTA Fair 2026 Attracts Enthusiasts

Kuala lumpur: Tourism Selangor is showcasing the state's diverse tourism offerings through 124 exhibitors at the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair 2026, making its pavilion the largest among domestic segments.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Chua Yee Ling stated that the participation goes beyond merely promoting destinations. It also allows visitors to discover a diverse array of tourism products that could be woven into a complete holiday experience. "Our tourism products include ecotourism, agrotourism, arts and culture, theme parks, hotels, resorts, as well as camping and glamping packages. We are presenting the full spectrum of tourism products available in Selangor, showcasing the variety of experiences that visitors can enjoy," she told Bernama at the fair being held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

Chua added that the experience-based tourism concept was also brought to life through a range of interactive activities, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the unique local products and cultural identity firsthand. "Many people are familiar with Kelantan's Wau Bulan, but Selangor actually has its own traditional kite, the Wau Kapal. Here, visitors can learn to paint Wau Kapal designs and turn them into keychains as souvenirs," she said.

Meanwhile, Chua mentioned that Tourism Selangor's participation in this year's MATTA Fair also placed a strong emphasis on the domestic market, in conjunction with Visit Selangor Year 2026. "We see industry players offering complete packages that go beyond single destinations, covering two-day-one-night or three-day-two-night stays. So when planning a getaway, it can include accommodation, meals and activities all in one," she said.

On visitor response, she noted that MATTA Fair continues to serve as the ideal platform for Tourism Selangor to offer a wide range of travel packages at special rates and discounts. "Returning visitors know that this is where they can find truly great value packages, with discounts of up to 50 per cent, along with plenty of freebies and redeemable rewards," she added.

She pointed out that this edition of the MATTA Fair, during the school holiday season, also drew large crowds of families, who took the opportunity to plan their getaways while enjoying the interactive activities on offer. Key highlights at the Tourism Selangor Pavilion, which runs for three days starting Sept 4, include the largest-ever Farm Fresh exhibition featuring 10 booths, a fruit sale, promotional tickets for Selangor Fruit Valley and an exhibition of products from the Selangor Community Host programme.
