Toshiba Unveils New Automotive Photorelay with 1800V Output Withstand Voltage

Toshiba: Toshiba Electronic Devices and Storage Corporation (“Toshiba”) has introduced an automotive photorelay named ‘TLX9165T.’ This component is housed in a 10pin SO16L-T package and is designed to support high voltage automotive batteries with a minimum output withstand voltage of 1800V. The company announced that volume shipments of this product have commenced today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the demand for enhanced charge times and extended cruising ranges is crucial for the broader adoption of electric vehicles. Both of these factors necessitate more efficient battery system operations. Battery management systems (BMS) play a vital role in achieving efficient system operation by monitoring the charge status of batteries and maintaining the essential insulation between the battery and the vehicle body for the safe use of high-voltage batteries. Photorelays with electrical isolation are employed in BMS that manage high voltages.
