Kuala Lumpur:Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has announced a RM15 billion investment in the national grid as part of Budget 2027, targeting infrastructure improvements to support reliable power delivery and industrial expansion, according to Solarvest Holdings Bhd.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Solarvest's CEO Datuk Davis Chong Chun Shiong stated that the company plans to collaborate with TNB to advance smart grids, digital energy management, and utility-scale battery energy storage systems. This collaboration aims to meet the rising corporate demand under the accelerated Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS).
Solarvest is committed to promoting clean energy adoption in key economic regions, including semiconductor ecosystems in Penang and Kulim Hi-Tech Park in Kedah, the Automotive Hi-Tech Valley in Perak, and AI-driven data-centre developments in Selangor and Johor. By integrating AIoT smart grid solutions, Solarvest aims to alleviate grid congestion, optimize solar integration, and ensure reliable power delivery to critical industries.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who also serves as the Finance Minister, highlighted in the Budget 2027 reading that TNB's investment is pivotal for strengthening the national grid to accommodate the country's growing electricity demands.
Additionally, Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC) President and CEO Mohd Yazid Ja'afar emphasized that the initiatives in Budget 2027 will aid Malaysian oil and gas services and equipment companies in bolstering sustainability, developing skills in new energy sectors, and expanding into global markets. MPRC is set to assist these companies through the OGSE Blueprint and its programs, facilitating tangible growth both domestically and internationally.
