Kuala lumpur: Tanah Makmur Bhd's (TMB) wholly owned subsidiary, KotaSAS Sdn Bhd, has partnered with Maxis Bhd to provide integrated connectivity and digital solutions for KotaSAS, a mixed-use township in Kuantan, Pahang. The collaboration was formalised through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Kuantan, under which Maxis will provide fibre and mobile connectivity, as well as smart city solutions to support the township's development.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the companies stated that the partnership supports KotaSAS' development as Kuantan's new central business district and Pahang's administrative capital while complementing major infrastructure projects, including the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL). The MoU was witnessed by TMB Group executive director Tengku Panglima Raja Brigedier Jeneral Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Maxis chairman Datuk Johan Idris. It was signed by TMB group chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Shahrul Nizam Abdul Aziz and Maxis CEO Goh Seow Eng.
Under the partnership, Maxis will lead the fibre rollout to more than 4,000 greenfield premises, provide comprehensive mobile coverage and deploy smart city solutions, including e-billboards, street lighting management, solar systems, smart energy meters, traffic lights, and smart poles. The companies said the collaboration will also provide residents and businesses with fibre connectivity, home and office Wi-Fi, and solar energy solutions.
They said the partnership also complements Maxis' role as the preferred telecommunications partner for the ECRL project by strengthening connectivity between KotaSAS and the rail network, supporting Pahang's position as a strategic economic corridor linking the East and West Coasts. "KotaSAS is designed as a fully integrated, smart township that will support Pahang's next phase of growth. As one of the pioneering developments in Pahang to introduce smart living, it reflects our commitment to building a modern, future-ready community. With Maxis on board as our connectivity and digital solutions partner, we are well placed to accelerate this vision and set a new benchmark of smart, sustainable living for the region," Shahrul Nizam said.
Meanwhile, Goh stated that TMB has a clear vision for KotaSAS and Maxis was proud to be the chosen connectivity and digital partner to bring their master plan to life. "With connectivity now essential for communities and businesses alike, this partnership reflects our shared commitment to accelerate Pahang's digital transformation. This will in turn contribute to the continued growth of the East Coast Economic Region, in line with Malaysia's digital agenda," he added.
