Timor-Leste Prime Minister Offers Support to Malaysia’s Flood Victims.

PUTRAJAYA: Timor-Leste today expressed its heartfelt sympathy and solidarity with the people of Malaysia who have been affected by the recent devastating flood. Timor-Leste Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, who is on a three-day official visit to Malaysia until tomorrow, said the country is ready to offer support to Malaysia in addressing this natural disaster.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Gusmão conveyed the message of support during a joint press conference with Malaysia’s Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim following a bilateral meeting. He stated, “On behalf of the government and people of Timor-Leste, we extend our deepest condolences to the families who have suffered losses, and offer our support to the Malaysian government in its effort to address this natural disaster and assist those in need.”

As of 8 am today, the number of flood victims nationwide was recorded at 138,052 people. Xanana Gusmão arrived in Malaysia yesterday to begin his three-day official visit, marking
his first visit to the country since assuming office on July 1, 2023.
