Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain Alert Issued for Most States Nationwide

Kuala lumpur: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected to hit nearly all states across the country until 6.00 pm this evening. The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued an alert at 3.50 pm, detailing the extensive reach of the adverse weather conditions.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the northern region is particularly affected, with Perlis and Kedah experiencing severe weather in districts such as Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang, and Sik. In Perak, areas including Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang, and Muallim are also forecasted to be impacted.

On the east coast, the alert extends to several districts in Kelantan-namely Jeli, Kuala Krai, and Gua Musang-as well as in Terengganu, covering Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu, Marang, Dungun, and Kemaman. Pahang districts such as Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Jerantut, Bera, and Rompin are similarly forecasted to experience extreme weather conditions.

The warning also includes key areas in Selangor, such as Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, and Petaling, along with the entire Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. In the southern region, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and parts of Johor, including Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai, and Johor Bahru, are under alert.

In Sabah, the forecast covers regions like the Interior (Sipitang, Tenom, and Nabawan), the West Coast (Papar), and Tawau (Kunak, Semporna, and Lahad Datu). Sarawak is not spared, with affected areas including Kuching (Bau and Lundu), Sarikei (Julau and Meradong), Sibu, Mukah Kapit (Song), Bintulu (Bintulu and Sebauh), Miri (Subis, Beluru, Telang Usan, and Marudi), and Limbang.
