Kuala muda: Police arrested four teenage boys, including three brothers, on suspicions of stealing motorcycles around the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) parking area near here on July 14.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kuala Muda district police chief ACP Hanyan Ramlan stated that preliminary investigations revealed the suspects, aged 14 to 16, were part of a group known as the Vetri Gang. The group allegedly stole motorcycles by pushing them as if they were broken. In total, 20 cases of stolen motorcycles have been reported in the area. The motorcycles' registration plates were not altered but were instead used by other suspects for spare parts.

ACP Hanyan Ramlan mentioned that all suspects had no prior criminal records. The gang's leader, a 15-year-old, was noted for not attending school. The boys have been remanded till tomorrow for investigations under Section 379A of the Penal Code.

Additionally, ACP Hanyan reported the arrest of four men, aged 25 to 31, in Sidam Kiri and Padang Serai on July 14. They were suspected of involvement in housebreaking and motorcycle thefts. Police seized a kerambit, a fake pistol, nine ball bearings, 0.56 grams of methamphetamine, two Yamaha RXZ motorcycles, and various components. These suspects have previous criminal and drug records, and investigations are ongoing under Section 457 and 379A of the Penal Code.

In a separate case, ACP Hanyan revealed that a series of snatch theft cases were solved with the arrest of a 24-year-old man in Jalan Tupah, Merbok. The suspect, with 14 prior criminal and drug records, was linked to another 10 snatch thefts in the district. This case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code. Police are actively searching for two male suspects believed to be his accomplices.
