Igan:Three large crocodiles, ranging from 2.44 to 4.75 meters in length, have been captured over the past three days in Sungai Batang Igan near Ulu Kampung Kebuaw.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the largest of the three crocodiles, measuring 4.75 meters and estimated to weigh 500 kilograms, was captured at around 2.30 am today by a team led by licensed crocodile hunter Jeferry Siew Seng Kwong, with assistance from local villagers.
Residents had requested help from the team following frequent sightings of crocodiles in the area. There was also an incident where a crocodile attacked a pet dog, raising concerns among the villagers. After the capture, villagers assisted in lifting the crocodile onto a boat.
The operation began on October 3, resulting in the capture of three crocodiles to date. The first two, measuring approximately 2.44 and 2.74 meters, were captured on October 4 and 5. During the operation, the team also discovered a nest containing about 40 crocodile eggs.
Jeferry expressed gratitude to the residents of Kampung Kebuaw and the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) for their cooperation and teamwork. Since obtaining his hunting license two years ago, Jeferry has captured over 100 crocodiles.
