Tawau:Three members of a family lost their lives, and a 15-year-old girl was seriously injured after their vehicle skidded off the road at Batu 14, Jalan Apas, at approximately 930 am today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tawau police chief ACP Rosdi Mat Jusoh reported that the deceased included a 50-year-old woman and her two sons, aged 30 and 28, who were declared dead at the scene by 1016 am.

The family was traveling from Kampung Bahagia, Sandakan, to Tawau when the 28-year-old son, who was driving the car, allegedly lost control along a straight stretch of the road. The vehicle skidded onto the left shoulder, collided with an oil palm tree, and overturned after traveling about 60 meters.

The teenage girl, seated in the back with her mother, suffered injuries to her abdomen and ribs. Initial investigations revealed that the driver did not possess a driving license, and the vehicle has been seized for inspection by the Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre (PUSPAKOM).

Authorities are currently seeking independent witnesses to ascertain the cause of the accident, which is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. ACP Rosdi urged motorists to adhere to traffic regulations and exercise caution while driving.
