Tambun: An elderly couple and their grandson were killed in a fire involving a two-storey terraced house at Persiaran Desa Tambun 4, Taman Desa Tambun here early this morning.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Datuk Sayani Saidon reported that the department received an emergency call at 4 am. Teams from the Tambun and Ipoh Fire and Rescue Stations were dispatched to the location promptly.

Sayani identified the victims as Raja Ahmad Raja Ali, aged 70, Zaitun Mohamed, 64, and their 18-year-old grandson, Nik Abdurrahman Azimin Harith Helal. Another family member, Raja Ikhwan Hadi Raja Ahmad, 47, survived the incident as he was believed to have been sleeping in the house's parking area at the time of the fire.

Upon arriving at the scene, Sayani noted that the fire had engulfed a Class A two-storey terraced house measuring 20 by 70 feet, affecting approximately 70 percent of the structure. The elderly male victim was discovered in the bathroom on the ground floor, while the other two victims were located on the upper floor.

Further details revealed that one victim was found in the upstairs bathroom, and another was found in a bedroom near a window on the upper floor. It was confirmed that the victims were all related, and six people resided in the house, although only four were present during the incident.

The fire was completely extinguished, with operations concluding at 8 am today. All victims have been handed over to the police for further action.
