Three Died In Car-Trailer Crash In Gua Musang

Gua musang: Three people died in a road accident involving a Perodua Myvi and a trailer carrying diesel on Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai, near Gua Sejuk here this morning. Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station chief Senior Assistant Fire Superintendent Muhammad Azrul Izzham Zulkifli said the deceased consisted of a man, a woman and a boy, while another woman was seriously injured.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the station received an emergency call at 7.16 am before eight of its personnel arrived at the scene with two fire engines at 7.52 am. Special equipment was used to remove the victims who were trapped in the vehicle. All three passengers in the Perodua Myvi died at the scene and one was found seriously injured, while the lorry driver was unhurt. The trailer was believed to be travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu.

All the victims were sent to Gua Musang Hospital for further processing, and the victims' bodies were handed over to the police for follow-up action. Meanwhile, Gua Musang district police chief Supt Sik Choon Foo said the accident is believed to have occurred when the 21-year-old driver of the Perodua Myvi lost control before skidding into the opposite lane and colliding with a trailer from the opposite direction.

Initial investigations found that the accident occurred at about 7 am and the vehicle driven by the local man was travelling from Kuala Krai towards Gua Musang. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving causing death, and further investigations are still ongoing to identify the exact cause of the accident.
